Personal Device Coverage
What does the Smart Tech personal device coverage plan cover?
Smart Tech coverage is designed to protect your devices from the unexpected. Depending on your plan, coverage may include accidental damage, liquid damage, power and charging issues, mechanical and electrical failures, manufacturer defects, loss, theft, and other common incidents that can leave your device unusable.
While our plans provide comprehensive protection, there are some exclusions. Coverage does not include cosmetic damage that does not affect the functionality of the device, mysterious disappearance, intentional damage, or accessories such as chargers, cases, and headphones.
For complete coverage details and exclusions, please refer to your plan agreement.
Does Smart Tech Cover new and used devices?
Yes. Smart Tech offers coverage on both new and used devices as long as they are in working condition and free of damage.
What is the turnaround time for repairs?
We’ve always been—and continue to be—one of the fastest in the industry when it comes to repairs.
Our standard turnaround is just 5 days—not business days, but any days—from the moment your device arrives at our facility to when it’s repaired and shipped back to you. It’s often even faster… but we’ll let the results speak for themselves.
If anything ever takes longer, you’ll be the first to know. No guessing, no wondering.
With our customized platform, you can track every device you send us in real time, 24/7. You’re always in the loop, every step of the way.
How does Smart Tech compare to OEM warranty and protection plans?
How does Smart Tech compare to OEM warranty and protection plans?
Unlike many manufacturer warranties that only cover defects in materials or workmanship, Smart Tech protection plans are designed to provide broader coverage for the real-world incidents that happen every day. While OEM warranties typically exclude accidental damage, liquid spills, loss, theft, and other common causes of device failure, Smart Tech plans can help protect against many of these unexpected events.
In addition to expanded protection, Smart Tech offers industry-leading repair turnaround times, flexible coverage options, and a simple claims process designed to get your device back in your hands as quickly as possible. Whether you need monthly or annual coverage, protection for a new or used device, or support from a real person, our plans are built with convenience and affordability in mind.
Most importantly, when something goes wrong, you’re not left navigating multiple support departments or lengthy repair queues. Our dedicated customer support team is here to guide you through the process, answer your questions, and help ensure your device stays protected and operational when you need it most.
What devices are eligible for coverage?
We cover just about every device that you would use in your daily life. This includes phones, laptops, tablets, smart watches and game consoles.
Are there any additional fees?
The only additional cost is your repair or replacement fee in the event you need to have your device repaired or replaced.
Can I get my device repaired locally?
Yes. You can either send your device in for repair or visit one of our approved repair centers nationwide.
What is your cancellation policy?
Yes. We believe coverage should be flexible. You can cancel your plan at any time, subject to the terms and conditions of your coverage agreement.
School Device Coverage
What does the Smart Tech coverage plan cover?
Maybe the better question is… what doesn’t it cover?
When you partner with Smart Tech, your devices are protected against just about everything—accidental damage (yes, even liquid), defects, loss, theft, battery issues, and power problems. If it can go wrong, we’ve probably got it covered.
Of course, there are a few exceptions. We don’t cover intentional damage (though you can upgrade your plan to include it), minor cosmetic wear like scratches, “mysterious disappearances,” chargers—unless added to your plan—and accessories like cases.
What is the difference in the coverage plans?
We offer two flexible coverage options—plus a repair program—to fit the needs of any school.
Parent-Purchased Coverage
Our most popular option—and it doesn’t cost the school a thing. We create a customized portal where parents and students can easily purchase coverage. You’ll have access to real-time insights like enrollments, claims, and more. Pair it with our repair program for any uncovered devices, and you’ve got a simple way to keep your fleet running like new all year long.
School-Purchased Coverage
Prefer full control? This option allows the school to cover all devices directly. It ensures every device is protected and eliminates unexpected repair costs, giving you predictable budgeting and peace of mind.
Hybrid Coverage
The Hybrid Coverage Plan gives schools the flexibility to maximize device protection while managing costs. Parents are offered the opportunity to opt in and purchase coverage for their student’s device. After the parent enrollment period closes, the school can then purchase coverage for any remaining devices that were not covered by parents.
Repair Program
Need repairs on demand? Our repair program is a great option for you. Simply send in devices as needed, and we’ll handle the rest. Billing is done monthly, and our team is always ready when you need us.
No matter your setup, Smart Tech makes it easy to stay covered, stay on budget, and keep your devices performing at their best.
What devices are eligible for coverage?
We offer coverage for virtually all makes and models of student and staff devices. This includes Chromebooks, laptops, tablets, iPads, MacBooks, desktop computers, and other classroom technology. Whether your devices are from Apple, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Acer, ASUS, or another manufacturer, Smart Tech can help protect your investment.
Can coverage be customized for our district's needs?
Absolutely. We pride ourselves on being one of the most flexible partners in the industry. Our team works closely with schools and districts to build a coverage program that meets their specific needs, rather than forcing them into a one-size-fits-all solution.
It’s often even faster, but we’ll let the results speak for themselves.
If anything ever takes longer, you’ll be the first to know. No guessing, no wondering.
With our customized platform, you can track every device you send us in real time, 24/7. You’re always in the loop, every step of the way.
When does coverage begin and end?
We work closely with each school to establish coverage start and end dates that align with your academic calendar, device deployment schedule, and student needs.
Why should our school work with Smart Tech?

We’re here to make your life easier—but don’t take our word for it. Ask for our reference list and let our customers do the talking.
Does Smart Tech cover new and used devices?
Yes! We cover both brand-new devices and those already in circulation. To be eligible for coverage, devices must be fully functional and free of damage at the time of enrollment.
If you have devices that need repairs before enrolling, no problem—just let us know. We can offer discounted rates to get them back in top condition and ready for coverage.
Are there any additional fees such as shipping costs?
No—what you see is what you get. There are no hidden fees or surprise charges. Your price is inclusive of everything to care for your devices. We don’t even charge for smiles.
How does Smart Tech compare to OEM warranty and protection plans?
OEM warranties and protection plans often come with limitations—like caps on repairs or replacements, complicated claims processes, and longer turnaround times—all while costing you more.
We understand the convenience of purchasing coverage directly with your devices. But, there’s a reason so many of our customers no longer rely on those plans.
They’ve made the switch—and now they see the Smart Tech difference; no hassle claims, faster repair times, more affordable coverage and an unrivaled level of service.
Do you cover loaner devices in the event of a claim on a student device?
Yes! The coverage would temporarily transfer to the loaner device while the student is in possession of it.
What does coverage cost?
Coverage pricing varies based on several factors, including the device type, device age, coverage term, selected protection plan, and the number of devices being covered. Because every school’s technology environment is different, Smart Tech provides customized pricing to ensure you receive the best value for your specific needs.
Our team will work with you to understand your device inventory and coverage requirements, then provide a tailored quote with no hidden fees or surprise costs.
Is it hard to file claims?
Sometimes – just not with Smart Tech.
Our proprietary platform is built to make everything simple. We actually developed it alongside IT teams across the country—so it has exactly what you need, and none of what you don’t.
Filing a claim takes less than a minute. Need to submit multiple claims at once? No problem—you can do that too.
We know the claims process is usually a hassle, so we took the work out of it. From filing and tracking claims to verifying enrollments, everything is designed to be fast, easy, and intuitive.
Because managing your devices shouldn’t feel like a full-time job.

At Smart Tech, our goal is to make selling your devices fast, easy, and transparent. Device values are determined based on several factors, including the make, model, age, specifications, condition, and current market demand.
We begin by establishing the value of a fully functional device in good condition. From there, we apply standardized adjustments based on the device’s condition, such as cosmetic wear, battery health, missing components, cracked screens, or functional issues.
This transparent approach allows you to understand how your devices are valued and provides a clear estimate of what Smart Tech may offer before the evaluation process begins. Whether your devices are like new, heavily used, or no longer functioning, we strive to provide fair and competitive buyback offers based on their current market value.
Do you purchased damaged devices?
Yes, we purchase all devices regardless of the condition.
Do I need to remove data before sending devices?

Do the devices need to be removed from MDM?
Yes, all devices will need to be removed from your management system prior to us picking them up.
How long does the buyback process take?
The timeline varies depending on device quantity and evaluation requirements, but our team works to provide quotes and process transactions as quickly as possible. Some transactions can take a few days and some can take a few weeks. We will give you an accurate estimate once we have the details of your buyback.
How do we get you the devices?
In most cases we will come to you to pick them up. If the volume is on the lower side we may opt to have them shipped with a trusted carrier.
